tradit…n’t about heroin or the drugs, since Harry, Tyrone, and Marion had a very traditional heroin story. He thought that what made the movie premise great, adapted from a 1978 novel by Hubert Selby of the same name, was Sara’s story struggling with diet pills and amphetamines, juxtaposed with the traditional heroin narrative.

I used to smoke weed in my early twenties and watch this movie monthly. I have NO idea how I did. I don’t think About the heroin users when I think about how disturbing this movie is , I think of the mother. Her storyline killed me. It was so gut-wrenching.
