With it came an avalanche of unlikely influencers, and one of them, Mikayla Nogueira, has been benefiting from being a TikTok makeup vlogger ever since. But how deserved is her reign on MakeupTok? I have written over 110 articles with Medium, a book, and countless other articles for my own website and others. I don’t do exposés very often, only when I feel they need to be written. And this one does.
Mikayla’s practices within her content violate FTC standards, she fails to disclose ads frequently, her egregious editing of her body triggers millions of people, and her lying about her use of certain products is misleading to hardworking people who should be spending their money in the right places.
